Dr. Kundabala Mala is a Ph.D. guide and postgraduate teacher in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, MCODS, Mangalore, affiliated to Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Alumna of GDC Bangalore. She has authored 155 publications in peer reviewed journals till date and authored a text book of Endodontics, given several guest lectures at national and international forum, editor-in-chief Journal of Interdisciplinary Dentistry from 2012-2014 and has co-chairperson of FODI- PG convention(2007), organized many workshops and CPD programs. She has been awarded research grants by Government of Karnataka and also been honored with Guident national award for most proactive senior academician and several research incentive awards. She has been a Key Opinion Leader of 3M ESPE, Minnesota, USA. She has served as Vice president of FODI (2004-2005) and EC member of IES and ISPRP.
The recent techniques of chemomechanical canal preparation are applied basically to remove the adhering microbial biofilm from complex root canal system and radicular dentinal tubules. Chemical irrigating agents, which are applied to a substrate such as dentin, may alter or modify the dentin structure, composition, and/or physical properties and may bring about harmful effects of irrigation. This presentation deals with advanced clinical irrigation and agitation modalities, case based irrigant protocol, effect and impact of irrigant sequence on dentin, irrigation current research, comprehensive insight on the principles of fluid mechanics and interaction of biofilm, and irrigating solutions. Also, vision glance for canal irrigation.
